After writing On Molding Experience, I knew exactly who I needed to ask for poetry when I needed texts about home – that is, Calgary. Again, Joyce delivered provocative text full of colour, nuance, texture, and action.

These three songs were written just before moving to the first stage of life past school – where I was left with a fit of nostalgia as I left behind the place I grew up and knew to be home. As a parting gift for myself, I wanted to create songs that described home. The resulting work is a nostalgic survey of things that make Calgary unique, as well as a reminder of the significance of the power of memory: it will always be with us, so long as we are alive.

Home Songs was awarded 3rd place in The Godfrey Ridout Awards, as part of the SOCAN Foundation Awards in 2017.
